Handmaid Army New York is part of a nationwide grassroots resistance movement responding to the rise of authoritarianism in the US and the federal government’s attack on our human and constitutional rights. The Trump regime, along with a complicit US House and Senate, and corrupt US Supreme Court …. has dismantled our democracy and scorched our trust in government.
Equality has been criminalized, minorities are being persecuted, community members are being disappeared, history is being rewritten, media is complicit and our freedom is being lost to religious nationalists. The federal government has militarized Americans who disregard our constitutional rights and are killing other Americans, with impunity.
There is no dress rehearsal; this is our fascist United States in 2026.
Fascists require fear and they use violence to suppress dissent.
But we will make no peace with oppression.
We know our rights. We rise and resist to defend them.
Through fierce non-violent demonstration, the Handmaid Army of red cloaks expose the loss of liberty and justice in our fractured society. Our activism is a living symbol of oppression, resistance, and prophecy.
Our presence is intentional. Silence is our language. We force reflection, and disrupt complacency. We are nonpartisan community members who dare to stand in solidarity with all whose autonomy and safety are threatened. We are a testament to a dystopian future of uncomfortable societal consequences…… if we do nothing.
History must not repeat itself.
